Allergy diagnostic tests (allergy testing) are a diagnostic method used to identify individual hypersensitivity of the body to various allergens. These tests are performed as prescribed by an allergist after a patient examination, when it is possible to determine the maximum number of suspected irritants capable of causing an allergic reaction.
Main indications for testing:
- bronchial asthma;
- allergic dermatitis;
- pollinosis (chronic or seasonal rhinitis);
- nasal congestion without obvious signs of a common cold;
- food allergy (itchy skin, rash);
- allergic rhinitis, conjunctivitis;
- asthma attacks, choking cough, recurrent wheezing, shortness of breath;
- unexplained itching of the eyes, eyelids, or nose;
- allergic reactions to insect bites or animals;
- cases where symptoms occur after taking new medications, exposure to household chemicals, or certain foods.
Modern technologies used at the Regional Center for Laboratory Diagnostics make it possible to detect the presence of specific antibodies (immunoglobulins) and obtain allergy test results from blood samples for any form of allergy.
List of allergy tests performed at the Family Laboratory:
- Determination of sensitization to medications (including anesthetics) (RAL, ESR) – 11 allergens;
- Determination of sensitization to food and household allergens (RAL, ESR) – 24 allergens;
- Determination of specific IgE antibodies by ELISA (quantitative).
- food panel – 18 allergens;
- pollen panel – 15 allergens;
- household panel – 14 allergens.
